Philippines trip preview - Boracay

PS: I'm missing the beautiul beaches already... They are way much better than what we have at sentosa, although i hate to admit that my camera didn't do justice to the actual thing we saw and experienced at the beaches in Boracay. The sand is white and so fine that you will find it difficult to contain in your hands. It will just slip through the little gaps in between your fingers which you tried so hard to keep them close to one another. And the water is so clear that you can see the scales patterns of the fishes swimming. Paradise~

Uni Buddies outing on Mon & Tues

Monday and Tuesday were eventful for me! I had lots of fun catching up with my uni mates. =) We went to sentosa for a potluck outing. Those who went were Weiching, Rina, Esther, Van, Adrella and I. On Tuesday, Ching Van Esther Seng Keat and I went to Bugis to celebrate SK's Ultra 2 months belated birthday! hahaz.

Fudgy brownies for tml's outing!

This was my 2nd attempt on this recipe and it didn't fail once again!

It's fudgy, rich and chewy! However, it must be treated with lots of tender loving care because it is fragile and tends to crumble if you are not gentle enough.

Therefore, only careful and gentle individuals are able to enjoy these brownies hassle free. hehe.

Soft cotton Japanese cheese cake

Do you guys know about Fiesta Japanese cheese cake from Ichiban? I had been dying to bake such cheese cake weeks ago but was put on hold due to assignments and exams. And told myself i had to satisfy my temptation right after my last paper. Overall, i am quite satisfied with the cake although it didn't have a "Fiesta" appearance, but the texture is good. Moist, soft and cottony! That is why I'm a happy girl now~~ lalala.
However, i think i should extend 10 mins more on baking as the cake was still a little sticky at the bottom when i took it out from the aluminium tray.

So, this here goes my amatuer piece.

Not very pleasant looking from the outside. hahaz! There is room for improvement.

PS: It tastes even better when chilled. hehe.

Up next will be fudgy brownies for sentosa potluck outing with my uni buddies!!! can't wait! hoho

Right after exams

Yesterday I was finally freed from exams for this semester at least! It was a long awaited day because andy and qb had finished their last papers almost 1 week before van and I. Envious~

But no more. We are having our holidays too!

Back to topic. Andy, together with loong ee and qb picked van and I up from school. We went to a Korean restaurant at beside Jurong Bird Park recommended by andy for a really early dinner. It's not bad. An interesting experience having authenic Korean food for the 1st time. However, i think the cost is considered pricey for me. I spent about 24 bucks in total. Utterly broke. Well, i exaggerated a little. Haha.

Considering it was still early after dinner, long ee suggested dessert and a drive to "investigate" Changi Hospital from afar. So after much pondering where to get our dessert, we settled on Anderson ice cream at Parkway Parade. Then off we drove to old Changi Hospital.

During the car ride, spooky stories regarding the old Changi Hospital were exchanged among them. It did fuel the fear in the girls and especially when the sky had darkened.

The chalets near the abandon hospital are very dark and quiet. No wonder there are so many ghostly stories told about that place. Soon, we got off the car and walked to the area leading to the old hospital and the girls stopped. It was on a hill and very creepy! Looking up in the direction where the building stood, there was only absolute darkness. Just like those scenes i saw in horror movies but only that it was real.

Andy and qb tried to pyscho us to take a walk further down towards the stairs and we strongly resisted! Yes, we were afraid because such things are not meant to be messed around. What if we unintentionally provoke any spirits wondering in the building? Then we would be in deep trouble.

Last hanging out venue of the day - Changi Airport. This was the time we camwhore alot! LOL.

PS: Thanks andy for driving us around! I think we must have used up quite alot of your car fuel. Paiseh arh =X

DID I MARRY THE RIGHT PERSON?

During one of our seminars, a woman asked a common question.
She said,"How do I know if I married the right person?"

I noticed that there was a large man sitting next to her so I said, "It depends. Is that your husband?"In all seriousness, she answered "How do you know?"

Let me answer this question because the chances are good that it's weighing on your mind. Here's the answer.

EVERY relationship has a cycle. In the beginning, you fell in love with your spouse. You anticipated their call, wanted their touch, and likedtheir idiosyncrasies.

Falling in love with your spouse wasn't hard. In fact, it was a completely natural and spontaneous experience. You didn't have to DO anything. That's why it's called "falling" inlove... Because it's happening TO YOU.

People in love sometimes say, "I was swept of my feet." Think about the imagery of that expression. It implies that you were just standing there; doing nothing, and then something came along and happened TO YOU.

Falling is love is easy. It's a passive and spontaneous experience. But after a few years of marriage, the euphoria of love fades. It's thenatural cycle of EVERY relationship. Slowly but surely, phone calls become a bother (if they come at all), touch is not always welcome (whenit happens), and your spouse's idiosyncrasies, instead of being cute,drive you nuts.

The symptoms of this stage vary with every relationship, but if you think about your marriage, you will notice a dramatic difference between the initial stage when you were in love and a much duller or even angry subsequent stage.

At this point, you and/or your spouse might start asking, "Did I marry the right person?" And as you and your spouse reflect on the euphoria of the love you once had, you may begin to desire that experience withsomeone else. This is when marriages breakdown. People blame their spouse for their unhappiness and look outside their marriage forfulfillment.

Extramarital fulfillment comes in all shapes and sizes. Infidelity isthe most obvious. But sometimes people turn to work, church, a hobby, a friendship, excessive TV, or abusive substances. But the answer to this dilemma does NOT lie outside your marriage. It lies within it. I'm notsaying that you couldn't fall in love with someone else. You could.

And TEMPORARILY you'd feel better. But you'd be in the same situation a few years later. Because (listen carefully to this):

THE KEY TO SUCCEEDING IN MARRIAGE IS NOT FINDING THE RIGHT PERSON; IT'SLEARNING TO LOVE THE PERSON YOU FOUND.

SUSTAINING love is not a passive or spontaneous experience. It'll NEVER just happen to you. You can't "find" LASTING love. You have to "make" it day in and day out. That's why we have the expression "the labor of love." Because it takes time, effort, and energy. And most importantly, it takes WISDOM.
You have to know WHAT TO DO to make your marriage work.

Make no mistake about it. Love is NOT a mystery. There are specific things you can do (with or without your spouse) to succeed with your marriage.

Just as there are physical laws of the universe (such as gravity), there are also laws for relationships. Just as the right diet and exercise program makes you physically stronger, certain habits in your relationship WILL make your marriage stronger. It's a direct cause andeffect. If you know and apply the laws, the results are predictable...you can "make" love.

Love in marriage is indeed a "decision"... Not just a feeling.

Just came home from my 1st paper - Accounting, which also spelt as Chaos. Just hope i can do alright for a "S" grade.

Oh no... i can't wait for my exams to end on the 29th of April. Then comes my 3 months summer break! lalala.

Yogyakarta (Indonesia)

Getting to Yogyakarta/Jogja was a tedious journey. Mr g and I had both narrated our "adventure" to quite a few people. It's just unbelievable for this to be happening in reality. Instead of taking about 5 hrs to reach Jogja with 1 transit flight, we took a FREAKING 17 hrs! With 17 hrs we could easily fly to the other side of the world, yet Indonesia is so near us. It just didnt make any sense at all. All THANKS to MALAYSIA HOSPITALITY AIRLINES (MH) for allowing this to happen!!! They actually CANCELLED our 2 separate bookings WITHOUT informing until we were in front of the check-in counter at Changi airport and KL airport. Moreover, they still dare to address them as a hospitality airlines. What was most maddening was that they gave us the excuse of not having our contacts! Oh please, we booked the tickets online thus how was it possible for them not to have our contacts. What's more? Our flight got delayed in KL for an hour which caused us to miss our connection flight from Jakarta! As consumers, we ARE very disappointed with their HOSPITALITY!

However, along the way we were very lucky to meet a Indonesian Chinese couple at Jakarta airport who were also in the same plight as us. They helped us in getting on the last plane to Jogja, if not we would have to wait overnight at the airport for the earliest plane the next day. On a brighter note, perhaps this was a blessing in disguise because we got business class seats! HOHO! That was our maiden experience on a business class cabin!

We had wasted ONE WHOLE day travelling and it sort of disrupted our itnerary. In the end, our trip became very RUSH! Sight~

Nevertheless, this was a memorable trip for us. As if we were being transported back throught time. Many of the monuments we saw were magnificient!

Borobudur
Built over a period of some 75 years in the 8th and 9th centuries by the kingdom of Sailendra, constructed out of an estimated 1,600,000 blocks of volcanic stone, dredged from the river and assembled solely by human labor, the nine-terraced temple is a representation of the transition towards nirvana and is famed for its 1,500 intricately carved reliefs, covering a total length of five kilometers end-to-end. The volcanic Mount Merapi, one of the most active volcanoes on Java, can be seen steaming on the horizon directly north of the site.

The first archaeological study of the site was initiated in 1814 by Sir Stamford Raffles, founder of Singapore. First restored in 1907, the monument suffered from neglect and war and was once more in effect rebuilt in the 1970s under the guidance of UNESCO, who designated Borobudur as a World Heritage Site. The massive restoration process involved the removal and refurbishing of over one million blocks, rebuilding the foundation and adding drainage systems.

Their buses were actually in much better condition than we what we expected. Taxis there are expensive, around the fare rate as Singapore though a little cheaper. However, to travel long distance in taxis is definitely a no-no for your pockets.

Prambanan
Prambanan is a collection of massive Hindu temples (candi) built by the 10th century Mataram Kingdom, rulers of central Java and defeaters of the Sailendra Dynasty. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, in most any other country constructions on the scale of Prambanan would be quickly designated as a national symbol, but in Indonesia they are somewhat overshadowed by the even more awe-inspiring bulk of Borobudur just next door. The two sites are quite different in style though, with Prambanan being a collection of sharp, jagged pyramids instead of the vast horizontal bulk of Borobudur, and both are well worth a visit. Taman Sari Water Castle

Taman Sari means beautiful park. It is about ten minutes walk from the Sultan's Palace south-west ward. Sultan Hamengku Buwono I in 1757 built this park. He created a new style that was a combination and a mixture of Javanese and Portuguese architecture. Taman sari was once a beautiful and sophisticated water-park. The area around the park eastward to the city quarters called "Kampung Segaran" was once full of water. This place is now called Suryoputran. Segaran is a Javanese word means a man-made ocean or an artificial sea. Every time the Sultan visited the park, he went there by rowing a private canoe through the suspension bridge called "Kreteg Gantung" which lay in front of the Palace gate, southward or northward of Kemandungan. The remained building that was once connected by the suspension bridge can still be seen nowadays. Besides water transportation, there was also an underground passage or alley from the Sultan Palace leading to one of the park buildings which called Pasarean Ledok Sari. Baking is such a lovely thing to do (minus the washing up of course! ha!). That is why baking these brownies brighten up my mood, especially when they turned out delicious! hehe. sorry for being thick-skinned here as i'm really happy with the result! =) Fudgy, chocolatey, chewy, moist and rich! Hohoho... By the way, using good quality cocoa really does makes a difference. Hence, if any of you want to bake any pastries with chocolate as the main character, invest in good quality cocoa powder or chocolate bar and you will know everything cent spent is worth it. =)

On Valentine's day, both of us went to Toa Payoh Sizzler for dinner after Novena. Having dinner in town was definitely a NO-NO on Valentine's day because it garanteed to be super packed! Hence, heartland was still a better option and we were very lucky to get a table without advance booking since most of the seats were reserved. =)

CNY cookies trial

I did a trial each for Chinese almond and peanut cookies for the last two days in preparation for more cookies baking this coming Chinese New Year! The results were generally not bad i would say. However, different people have different taste preferrences and sweetness tolerances which make me confused. My parents find that they are alittle too sweet but the rest who tasted think they are nice. So should i just remain the sweetness or should i reduce it a little?
Friends, i will be bringing the cookies to school tomorrow. Please give me your honest opinion ya? hahaz, thanks. Then maybe i could invest in baking cookies for the subsequent CNY(s) to make some bucks! hoho. =)

Dear suggested us for a HSBC Treetop Trail, so we went there yesterday late afternoon. With a total of 2.5hrs on rocky and steep gound, i was exhausted but satisfied as i sweated like mad. hoho!

Halong Bay

Anyone who goes to Hanoi should never miss out visiting Halong Bay. An amazing place that i would describe as heaven on earth! The scenery was totally beyond description... Both of us were mesmerised by its ultimate beauty... However, it was rather disappointing that we couldn't capture at least 30% of its actual beauty and the overall experience in Halong Bay paradise with my lousy dig-cam. The pictures below didn't do much justice to what we had seen. Maybe we should invest in Seng Keat's and Loong ee's kind of professional camera. The only thing is about the price of those camera. Too pricey for the masses.

It was about 3.5 hours ride from Hanoi, but it was absolutely worth the hours travelling. Mr g and i paid for a 2D/1N Halong Bay Tour for about USD40 plus if i was not wrong; a mid range one.

Side track abit. The temperature was very cold at Halong Bay in the winter season, especially at night. It could even go down to 13 degree celsius or below. Imagine how i tahan my 2 days there but everything was worth it! Meanwhile, the chill-ness actually make the whole experience more romantic. =)

Southern Ridges trail

Few day back, i met up with my uni girls ching, van and esther for a little exercise; that was to go for a walk at the southern ridges trail. It was nice seeing the girls again! =)

Below are some pictures i 'kapo' from esther's blog. Tried 'kapo-ing' from van's blog but couldn't seem to do so. Maybe will get the rest of our pictures from her some day. hahaz.

31 hours train ride

Right after our Mekong Delta tour, we took a train to Hanoi at night on the same day - 31 hours straight! We bought the seater tickets instead of the berths ones to stick to our budget, and also prevent sharing a cabin with strangers since there are 4 beds to a cabin. But i must say, 31 hours non-stop train ride was a nightmare. Nevertheless, it was an experience for the both of us, especially when we were the ONLY 2 foreigners in that particular seaters cabin. At the end of the day, we suffered from hunger as we only survived on self brought dry rations; butt and back ache after sitting on a "supposedly cushioned seat".

Meals were actually provided to the commuters in lunch boxes but we didn't dare to give it a try after seeing the condition of their toilets. We didn't dare to imagine having to visit their toilets and seating on the toilet bowl for umpteen since we didn't know how to have our "big bussiness" done standing up. haha. The food was prepared elsewhere in the train which was hidden from our view, hence we didn't know if our stomach could tolerate unclean food like the local. Why was that such a concern? Reason was their toilets were very dirty, plus the way the locals used it made it even worse. Pee was covered all over the toilet bowl seater and floor and they didn't flushed after use. The water level within the toilet bowl was higher than our typical ones, so the liquid content inside it only accumulated when users didn't flush. Moreover, the moving train was shaky, causing the content inside to sway violently from side to side, threatening to spill out. I'm not trying to gross you out because it was exactly as mentioned. Many times i tried avoiding usage unless i was really urgent; squatting but NO SITTING!

Not forgetting to mention about little "Ratatouille(s)" (name was given by mr g) running around our cabin. haha. Fortunately, there wasn't any "xian qiang(s)" around. If not, i couldn't imagine how paranoid i would be for the entire journey. Phew~

Quite a shock for us when we came to have a look of their "best" train. It didn't met up with our expectation or the pictures online. The thought of having to spend 30 hours on the train made us feel even more sian. The extra 1 hour delay was due to the breaking down of the train about 20mins after the start of the journey.

Mr g had suggested in blogging our trip by the highlighted places we went and experienced instead of blogging by days, as there were way too many pictures to upload and things to blog about. Now, i will start off by blogging about Mekong Delta; a 3 hours bus ride from Ho Chi Minh.

Singapore 0-1 Vietnam

Mr g and i went to Kallang Stadium to watch Singapore play Vietnam yesterday. However, we were disappointed to see Singapore's soccer team got defeated by the Vietnamese in the semi-finals, especially when it's my first time watching Sinapore played live. Furthermore, our team had been the champion for the last 2 seasons in the the Asean Football Federation Suzuki Cup.

Anyways, the atmosphere was great! With a crowd of 48,411 (Straits Times) was no joke. Singapore's fans occupied an estimated 85% of the stadium and the way all of us cheered for our players was heartwarming. =) Of course we mustn't forget about booing the opponent's team as it adds on to the overall excitment of watching soccer. It's the soccer tradition. hahaz.

Well, i guess we have to wait another 2 years for our next game in 2010.

I think im suffering from "essay-phobia" right now. Too much of essay writing lead to this horrible state of mine. Oh well...i just pray that all these tedious work will rocket pass real fast! sigh~

Yesterday was an enjoyable day at daphne's 21st birthday party. I spent the whole night catching up with my secondary friends. Especially with jiahui, jiayun, cc tham and cc chia. hahaz. I had spent the entire day doing my research module assignment 3... Feeling very zombie-like now. So stoned that i didn't even see my friends at the admiraty foodcourt. That time i was with my sis. First, seet called me. I responded with a super blur look. Then followed by esther, her sis and friend who called out to me from another table. I think they called me for quite a few times but i was too stone to hear. I could tell you my reaction was darn slow to even realised who called out to me! hohoho...

Nothing could stop me from making cakes even though my mum "banned" me from using the oven. I turned to "chillling" cheesecake in the refrigerator yesterday! hahaz. It's a successful attempt! yummy! =)

Although i saved on the electical bill, the money that i had spent for the cheesecake ingredients was not cheap either... 500g of philedaphia cream cheese alone already cost me 10 bucks! Not to mention about whip cream, butter, and 2 regular packets of orea biscuits etc... Now i know why cheesecakes outside sell at such high price.

Feel like making tiramisu the next time, but it not going to be any cheaper since i still need cream cheese! Sigh...everything is getting more and more expensive now..

Hai.
Can't really bake much this month as my mum has started nagging about the increase in electrical bill... But i like to bake and cook. Feel like baking sponge cake but i was stopped just now.. Hopefully, the cost of electricity will maintain and not going uphill anymore..If not, i couldn't possibility bake whenever and whatever times i want..

Well, i think the best time to bake is the days when my mum is not at home! So i could discretely bake. heh heh. Then she wouldn't know. Even if she does, i would already be done with my baking. Hohoohoo..

Anyways come to think about it, i also wouldn't have much time for baking the next 2 months as more assignments are meeting the deadlines and exams are nearing. I guess this would bring some relief to my parents who are paying for the electricl bills..haha.

Pizza & Kueh Dadar

Today i felt like a total housewife. Baking and cooking the whole day. hahaz. In the morning, i went to market to buy the ingredients for kueh dadar. It was very tedious to make the skins and i doubt i will be doing that again unless i really have the time and mood. No photos of my kueh dadar because it's not very pleasant looking but taste wise, mr g thought it's not too bad for a 1st timer (yay!) whereas my mum complaint that the coconut filling was too sweet to her liking. Maybe mature adults prefer a healthier choice. As for me, i feel that more practice has to be done on making thinner and better skins for kueh dadar.

I must say i was very satisfied with my Hawaiian pizzas! I did the 3 bread bases from scratch and they turned out real good! *smiling broadly* Everyone had their own large share of the pizzas for dinner.

PS: Thank you dear for helping me in handling the tray in and out of the sizzling hot oven and cutting up the button mushrooms! =)

This was my maiden attempt cooking this dessert! All i would say is....it's ALOT of WORK! You have to boil the ginko nut first, peel off the shell one by one etc etc. That was why i took a freaky 4.5 hrs just to come out with this; just in time for me to go school. hahaz. I've got to thank my mum for helping me to peel the ginkos, if not for her help i would have taken the whole day. =)
Really happy that my hard work didn't disappoint me, it came out beyond my expectation! So so so glad my family and mr g liked it! hehee..

This morning i woke up and found that i was out of bread for the most important meal of the day. Although i dreaded the idea of taking the trouble to go to the nearby supermarket, i had no other alternatives because i couldn't "live" without breakfast. By asking my mum to buy would not be a smart choice either as i would be starving by the time she's done with her groceries. Hence i went down with her but with different agendas of course. haha.

Anyway, that was where i saw this phenomena happening right in the MRT station!!! (well..i know i exaggerated a little)2 long queues of people (uncle, aunties, ah gongs, ah mas and working adults) were queueing to get TODAYS and "我報" free newspapers at different queues. Mine you, those were really long queues and i'm not kidding! People queued for one then proceeded on to the other one. First thought that flashed across my mind was "Wah! can use this Singapore subculture for my research topic leh! very the interesting! But aiya im already doing the one on fast food restaurants, lazy to change topic.." haha. Since my mum is also one of the frequent patrons (she likes to challenge the sudokos in those papers), she told me sometimes the line could stretch even further. I found that quite amazing, especially for the working adults who were rushing for work during morning peak hour and didn't mind queueing for free papers despite the long line. Some people even tried to go to the station earlier afraid the papers might have finish distributing.

This shows that how ignorant i was of what's happening around my neighbourhood during the morning and i was glad i did see and experience this "phenomena" as i joined in the crowd. hahaz.

After a tiring day of reading, i intended to bake once again to relief my stress! So here comes the banana cinnamon muffins! I'm quite satisfied with today's result. =)
More improvision will be made, such as adding more bananas! I personally think that more bananas will add on to the texture of the muffins not just eating plain flour.
yummy delicious~crunchy on the outside, soft and moist in the inside (especially when they just came out from the oven. Hopefully they will still taste alright overnight.hahaz.)
My dad just had 3, my sis had 1, 5 reserve for mr g and the rest for my family's breakfast tomorrow. hehe... I'm a happy girl now!

It has almost been 2 weeks since school has started for me. For only 2 weeks of school, my friends and I are feeling the intensity of how this semester is going to be like, and one word to describe it is "shiong!" We will be having 2 projects going on simutaneously. The worst one is on the qualitative research module; a level 4 module. Super taxing! I think all of us have to write about 10,000 words for this whole project. It's no typo error, it's 10,000 words for real! I have never writen so many words for a single assignment in my entire academic life. Futhermore, it's an individual work! omg! Well, i guess there will always be a kick start for every thing in life.. This would be only one of the many to come. Jiayou to all the people i know!

Last Saturday i attended mr g's godbrother wedding ceremony and dinner. So i was out practically the whole day and so did mr g as he's the Best-Man of the day. =)

He looks really good! tsk tsk...

I must say it's quite an experience for me as i had never been to a wedding church service. Seeing the about-to-be husband and wife standing in the front saying their wedding vows and locking their eyes just on each other, could easily made my heart melt. It's a very heart-warming moment to see a couple finally able to embrace and stand by each other for the rest of their lives. Having the chance of walking down the red carpets is never easy (as in how many of us could actually find someone we love so dearly and finally get to marry him/her?) and spending the rest of their lives together working towards a successful marriage needs even more time and effort. Marriage is so sacred and scarce, hence it could only be justified by cherishing all we could.

The wedding dinner was a very simple affair at Jewel Box Restaurants on Mount Faber Hill. Only 5 tables for close relatives and friends. One thing not to forget, the view of Singapore's skyline was just right infront of me; breath-taking and very romantic! aww...

Last of not least, I sincerely wish this newly-wed couple a blissful and successful marriage! =)

The STUPID bus driver didn't wait for all the passengers to be on board before driving off to park at the resting point about 4km away!!! Can you believe it?!! We had no choice but to walk there as we didn't dare to trust any of the drivers offering us rides. Damn scary...What an experience but an unpleasant one though! Luckily i didn't travel alone..phew~

Finally we reached the IDIOT bus. haha.

Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh is much backwards than Ho chi Minh for sure. But one thing i couldn't figure out and that is why they have well established petrol stations with convenient stores just like ours when they are even less developed than Ho Chi Minh. Weird right?

This driver is a dishonest man. Why so? Because he purposely gave us the wrong direction to the place we wanted to go when we didn't want to do his business (be our driver to bring us around for the next day). He quoted us $US20! Very expensive for a tuk tuk. In the end, we asked the hotel staff to book us a nice taxis which only cost us an extra $US5.

Phnom Pehn (very quiet; like a dead town especially in the non touristy area) is a direct contrast of Ho Chi Minh (very noisy and vibrant), although both are capitals of their own countries.

Many times, i felt uneasy walking on the streets. Especially after the sun sets... I was really glad to have mr g around. =)

Chinatown Market

I only 1 thing to say about their toilet...and that is "it's primitive for me" because they don't have flushing system. So there woule be people waiting for you outside your cubicle. After you finish doing your whatever business, they would bring in buckets of water to flush down all your excretes... One more thing, their toilet is constantly flooded! Just focus on my expression and you will know what i mean.

Mr g was the tour guide during the trip and of course for our future trips.hahaz. I must say he's really good at map reading! At least i know i can depend on him to bring me around safely. =)

Now its finally my turn to do some contribution by asking the locals for direction. Since they only know Vietnamese and abit of Mandarin, so i tried my best to make sense on what they were trying to convey. They were very helpful though in the end we decided to take a taxis as the Jade Emperor Pagoda was too far away. haha.

Our lunch! Pho - The famous Vietnamese beef noodles! We had this for all our dinner for the next few days. At different restaurants though. Theirs are 100% authentic, unlike those you find in Singapore. The real stuff is much much better.

They have VERY congested and noisy traffic. Everyone on the road honk practically all day long. You might think they would stop at night, but no. They honk throughout the night too. haha. Interesting indeed. However, sometimes it would really get up to your nerves. What else? Their traffic is so chaotic that drivers could anyhow turn or cut lane. I would never be able to make it across to the other side of the road without mr g. And the secret to that is... must ga ga ( be brave)! haha.

Southern Ridges Park Connectors Walk

Yes, mr g and I went for an adventure yesterday! We had decided to "conquer" the 9km Southern Ridges Park Connectors Walk. After a brief research online, the estimated time to completion was around 2 - 2.5hrs.

Usually, the starting point normal route people would take is from Marang trail --> Faber Walk --> Hill Top Walk --> Forest Walk --> HortPark --> Floral Walk --> Canopy walk --> Kent Ridge Park --> West Coast Park (end). But we took from the other way round because i wanted to end the jorney at Harborfront. So we started our journey around 11.30am and expecting to complete this trail at about 1.30pm, or 2pm at most. Anyways, guess what? We ended up spending a total of 5 hrs, 5 freaking hours to reach our destination! Meaning we walked almost non-stop, doubling the original distance we were supposed to travel. Because we lost our way trying to get to Kent Ridge Park from West Coast Park. There was no markers or instruction to guide us from this one to the next. Very bad. Hence, we spent most of the time circling NUS. Although we were lost for quite a while, i was glad that mr g was around as he was the one figuring the right track. If not, i would be super lost/tired and thought of giving up. He made me persevere. =) He knew i was exhausted, so he kept talking to me in hopping to divert my attention from tireness. Mr g was very encouraging and thoughtful throughout. =)

Oh ya, i realised mr g is rather good at taking scenic photos. He is so going to be the camera man for our Vietnam and Cambodia trip. hahaz.

Van, ching and I had our long waited Little India Trip last Friday. Unfortunately Esther had something on that day. So maybe we could go there with her again some other day! =)
First, we went to have our lunch. Followed by walking around Little India and at last we ended our whole trip at Mustafa. It was my first time there although that is an old shopping complex. Very "sua ku" right? haha. Some items are rather cheap there while others are not, and i bought a pair of retro shades for mr g for my birthday theme the next day. =) By the way, he did look good with that! kekez.

Officially 21!

Happy 21st birthday to me! I can't believe i'm officially an adult now. Time really flew pass like rocket. Especially when all my cousins most of my cousins turned up for my party yesterday, made me additional nostalgia.. We were so young then, running around and bullying one another. Nothing to worry about and having fun was all we cared for. Now that most of us have grown up, priorities also shifted. Each of us has our own life, friends and love ones. Gosh...i feel old liao. haha.

I was really appreciative that my friends and relatives never failed to turn up yesterday. Hope they had enjoyed themselves. I want to say a sorry if any of you felt neglected when i was going around trying to talk to everyone. But each and everyone of you are people i treasure and i sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart. Btw, i had already read the cardboard messages done by my clique! That's very nice of you guys!

Also, must thank my mum for all the preparation. She was busy all day long.

Of course i didn't forget the most special person in my life, thank you for being here and shared this very special day with me dear. =)

The weather now really suits my mood. A rainy day and an upset tummy. I am supposed to go to Orchard to send our rings for engraving but just so coincidently, im having diarrhoea right now. A total of 5 times to the toilet since noon and my arse is burning!

Just came back from Miramar Hotel. Had dinner at their Ferntree Cafe to celebrate g's mum birthday. Today was my 2nd time having dinner with his family. First time was on Mother's Day. The elders were there too. I think they really are cute senior citizens; very fun loving. They kept telling us to eat more and eat this eat that. haha. =) Anyway, tonight was a more enjoyable dinner with his family because the first time round i was nervous and tensed up. hahaz.

Finally i can rest my brains for the next few weeks. Yes, i had my psychology paper this afternoon which was demoralising to me. Hopefully i won't do too horrible for that...

Anyway, went to watch "Kungfu Panda" with clique and seet's family at Causewaypoint Cathy. I simply love that movie! The panda was so cute and his spastic look was damn hilarious! People in the cinema were laughing alot too. Nice. I will give it a 4.3/5 . =)

Before the kbox session, i accompanied mr g for a temp-job interview in town in the morning. But when we reached the place, we were actually greeted with a paper sticking on the glass door. On it, it said " We are sorry to inform you that all vacancies are filled." Sian...

At around 1.30pm i went off to meet jiahui and cc at Cineleisure for Kbox-ing.
Although i have been k-boxing for the past 4 years, yesterday was the first time i sang with my secondary school buddies! It was definitely enjoyable. We sang, we danced and we screamed! hahaz. 5 hours of that could be very physcially demanding. LoL.

After that, i met up with dear g, together with david and meng teng again for dinner at Chinatown.

Another baking session of the month, but with mr dearest g this time. I went to bake at his house because my home oven is not in an usable condition. However, this time round i used a different recipe given by my mum.
It actually turned out quite good and i'm extremely proud of myself! Mr g knew it all as i was jumping away when i saw my finished product. Spongy and soft in the inside, whereas crispy on the outside. He even ate 2 muffins only within a few hours. haha. Of course, i must not forget to thank him for being such a great help in the kitchen. =) Love him to bits!

Only van and I went to ang mo kio KBox last Sunday because the rest were not free to go. We went there only to find out they did not have any more regular sized rooms for us so they gave us the VIP room. It was really a blessing in disguise loh!

Some facial mask my mum made. She mixed green bean powder, milk powder and honey. Then water was added to create a paste-like texture for easy application. It is said to give your complexion a smoother and fairer surface. Well, i don't know about that but i think it's more like "diarrhoea" being smeared across my entire face. hahahaa.. and i looked SCARY!

Actually was supposed to meet up with Van, Andy, qb and jiyong for k-boxing session at night but was called off in the morning. It was my part to be blamed since i didnt check out the price before organising this. Only after jiyong sms me about the price then i knew how expensive it was. $37 per person! So expensive man! After discussing with van, we decided not to go. Ultimately, it was cancelled and would be re-scheduled again. Im very sorry guys...

I was feeling sian when i couldn't sing K, then mr g sms me! Saying he was going to JB with david and asked me whether i wanted to join them. I was interested so i asked my mum for permission. To my surpised, she allowed without much persuation. =) I haven been to JB for a long long time and i was excited. We went in the afternoon and came back around evening. One thing i must say is...the air quality in JB is bad because im suffering from pimples now. Not only me, mr g too. hahaz.

Went clubbing with mr g and his friends (david, mervin & gf, zunzin & a female friend) at ZOUK. That was my first time there and also first time attending Lady's Night. Like its name, ladies have free entry. Sounds attractive right? BUT...a big BUT...there is no complementary free drinks for females, so we have to pay additional to purchase alcoholic beverages. In the end, females actually don't really "tan tio" unless they go with their guy friends and share drink coupons. Because this was what we did; we shared coupons. haha.

Mambo musics are played on every wednesday night. This is the song choice i preferred rather than trance; easier to dance to the beats.

Demise of a stranger...

A shocking news was presented to my eyes after reading an email sent by the Student Affairs. Miss Tay Xin Yu, a student-teacher from NIE, diagnosed with Lymphoma in 2006 has passed away on 28th April 2008 at 1.15pm at Singapore General Hospital. Though she was only a stranger to me, my heart couldn't help feeling sorrow towards her and her family. She was so young and have a bright future as a teacher. Yet she had to bear this misforture. Gone is the dead and those who are left behind have to grief for the lost of their love ones.

I remembered some of my friends (Ching, esther, long ee and my bf) and I participated in a bone marrow donation drive on 12th March, organised by the student body. It was really very unexpected because i believe there might be a chance for her since many people are willing to give a try for the drive. Perhaps, she could find a suitable marrow. But sometimes, when your time is up in this world, there is nothing you could do. That is fate, you might call it. Life is so fragile and unpredictable. Humans are so helpless in the face of life, so many things are beyond our control. All i have to say is - we must learn how to cherish the present and the people around us because we never know when any of us might leave this mortal world...

Rest in peace to the deceased and my deeply condolence to her family members.

Yeah! Finally i'm freed from exams and a 3months break is awaiting me ahead! Well, 1.5 months to be exact because my special-Semester will start on the 5th of may and end on the 11th of june. But that is "chicken feet" compared to the normal semester, as it is a 3 days week and only 2 hours of lesson per day. haha. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! I simply can't confine my excitment for the holiday! =)

Having finished my last essay for this semester on Friday night, i decided to take a little break to Bugis with mr g for dinner on Saturday evening, which was yesterday. Went to 來來taiwan Beef noodle at 20 Liang Seah Street. I Love the Beef noodles there! Their self recipe chilli with ikan bilis is a heavenly combination when added to the broth of the noodles!! Not forgeting their taiwan noodles, the texture is so chewy and smooth... yummy delicious!

After dinner, we decided to go Chijmes to watch Liverpool and Arsenal match. It's exciting to watch with so many people. The cheering and jeering really add up the atmosphere. On the way to Chijmes, i suddenly thought of getting a book that i long wanted. So mr g and i dashed off to Carlo Cathotic bookstore situated near St Peter & Paul Church, because we were afraid that it might be closed since it was alr 7 plus. Lucky me, we got there at 7.15pm on the dot and the bookstore was jus about to close! But the staffs were very kind to let me purchase what i wanted. Then we proceed to find the book at the spot where i last saw it. To my dismay, i couldn't find it and worst of all, i could only remember the how the cover looked like but not title. When i almost gave up, thinking maybe i don't have the fate to own that book.

However..guess what???!!! Something familiar caught my eyes and... that's it! That's the book i was looking for! It had changed in location and that was why i couldn't find it initially. I was so happy. It's the feeling like you lose something but it reappears right before your very eyes. Unbelivable... =)

The name of the book is "The Incorruptibles". It talks about the bodies of Saints that did not undergo decomposition after hundreds and hundreds of years. The most bizzare thing is their bodies are still as fresh and flexible even without artifical mummification. Fragrances are also detected from these bodies of the Saints. Isn't this phenomena amazing?

Just received a sms from my cousin ah li and she asked me to be her 'jie mei' on her wedding day this November 20th!!! It would be my 1st time being a 'jie mei'! I'm feeling super duper ultra very extremely excited now even though it is like 7 months away. But i don't care! This great news really made my essay writing week a happier one. Whoever is reading this, please help me pray for no exams on that day, or better still, pray that exams would end before that. I truely appreciates alot, thank you! =)

Yesterday we celebrated weiye's 21st belated birthday at sakura buffet restaurant as his actual birthday fell on the 18th; the same as my mum. =) He was so nice to treat us 1/2 of our bill. Thanks weiye!

I saw my JC classmate Shareen there because she happened to be weiye's primary school classmate! It was such a coincidence. hahaz. Next, i saw my AICO junior! She is now working part-time at Sakura but too bad, there was no discount given after she tried asking her manager. LOL. It's a small world indeed...

I was really happy to see my bunch of secondary good buddies and we chatted alot. =)
